This is to inform all about the issuance of digital policy bonds (ePLI bonds) through the DigiLocker platform. We previously issued notifications on this subject on October 11, 2021, and August 25, 2022.
Important Note Regarding Aadhaar Authentication
It has come to attention that some e-PLI bonds are not being generated due to Aadhaar authentication issues. This mismatch occurs when the policyholder’s name on the policy bond does not exactly match the name on their Aadhaar card.
We kindly request you to refer to our previous notification dated October 11, 2021, which clearly stated that the policyholder’s name on the policy bond must be identical to the name on their Aadhaar card.
Steps to Ensure Successful e-Bond Generation
To ensure a smooth experience while availing the e-Bond facility for your PLI/RPLI policy through DigiLocker, please follow these steps:
- For PLI/RPLI Sales Staff: Please educate our customers about the importance of having their name on the policy bond spelled exactly as it appears on their Aadhaar card.
- For PLI-CPC Staff: Meticulously ensure accurate data entry during the indexing of every PLI/RPLI proposal.
Correcting Discrepancies in Policyholder Names
If there are any discrepancies between the name on the policy bond and the Aadhaar card, you can get them rectified following the detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the PLI Directorate vide letter no. 25-04/SOP/2020-LI dated May 5, 2022.
